Just wanted to share with you guys the details of the New Azure Free Account! If you get my article, How do I get started with Azure? You would remember that there was an option for Azure Free Trial.

Earlier when you signed up for Azure free account, you would have got 30 days free account with $200 credit. So, if you were to consume all $200 or crossed 30 days, either you had to upgrade your account or it got disabled.

The good news is that Microsoft made changes to the Free Account which are now more in line with how Amazon Web Services' offers the free account.

The new Azure free account includes $200 credit to spend for 30 days as previously offered and also free Azure products for 12 months. In addition to this, it will also give you 25+ always free services.

The complete list of FAQ and the list of services that are available for 12 months and always free can be found here.

Once you finish the $200 credit or reach close to 30 days, Microsoft will notify you so you can decide if you want to upgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go Azure subscription. If you do, you will have access to all the free products. If you don’t, your account and products will be disabled.

For 12 months after you upgrade your subscription, certain amounts of popular products such as compute, networking, storage, and databases are free. After 12 months, any of these products you may be using will continue to run and you will be billed at the standard pay-as-you-go rates.
